Angular Limb Deformity

What is Angular Limb Deformity?
Angulary limb deformity can be a result of abnormal development during growth, trauma during growth, or abnormal healing following a fracture. More severe deformities result in abnormal function and abnormal joint loading, which can lead to accelerated wear and tear and predisposition to ligament sprains.

Treatment of Angular Limb Deformity:
Treatment usually involves cutting the bone, straightening based on reference angles or angles taken from the opposite limb, and fixing it in place with implants until the bones heal.

Prognosis:
Young dogs are the best candidates for correction. Generally, early intervention has the greatest long-term benefit, and the aim of surgery is to improve functional mobility to support quality of life.
