Lameness Evaluation & Work-Up

Lameness evaluation considers the history, severity and progression of the lameness. An orthopaedic physical exam is performed. Diagnostic imaging, including radiographs, ultrasound and CT (Computed Tomography); or joint-fluid sampling may be recommended in animals to help narrow the possible causes of lameness. These tests must always be interpreted in light of the physical exam.

These steps may occur all at once, or over time, depending on the severity of the lameness.

Coast OrthoVet offers:

  • Consultation for physical exam and gait analysis, surgical opinion and individualised treatment plan

  • Additional diagnostic procedures as required

  • Complimentary review of imaging from referring vets
